RZA Channels Quentin Tarantino for Directorial Debut

original story posted January 7, 2010
Outside of his work with the Wu Tang Clan on the boards, producer RZA has always had some type of fixation with the Asian culture and the art of Kung Fu.
Now is the time to show and prove as he has been given the green light to begin the film The Man With The Iron Fist, which will mark his debut as a director.
Another fan of the martial arts movies is director Quentin Tarantino, whom RZA had the pleasure of working with when he was asked to create the score for
the Kill Bill series.  Since then, the two have been able to build a strong relationship and respect for one another.
Looking to him for tutelage, the Staten Island native has spent countless hours studying Tarantino's history citing movies such as Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs and Inglourious Basterds in order to get ahead of the game as it relates to his direction with cinematography.
Tarantino was also able to drop some knowledge for the RZA to ensure that he steps out with the right foot forward.
“He said, ‘You are ready, just don't start too much up here.'  That meant, don't let my budget exceed $10 million.  Don't start like that yo!  You start like that, expectation is going to be so high, you may never come again.  That's great advice.”
With no release date yet, there has been no word if RZA will be putting on his acting cap for his upcoming film.  Fans can, however, expect to see him in the upcoming project Due Date which will be directed by Todd Philips, the man behind The Hangover.
