“It's going to be a visual trip into the mind, the meaning & the man behind the music.”
Ever since being dismissed from MTVs Hottest MCs List this year, Lupe Fiasco appears to be making a lot more noise than usually.
Dropping freestyles to “Turnt Up” and “Say Something,” the Chicago rapper is starting to build up buzz and give even more anticipation for his upcoming album, Lasers, which will be released in December.
Today the rapper will be throwing a concert, call it a pre-Halloween party, in Chicago where he will chronicle his career from the beginning to where he is currently standing. The show is
entitled Remember to Smile: A Retrospective of Lupe.
The show is also set to feature his commentary on various topics such as politics, religion and other things that are part of his life with drops of music that he has yet to perform in front on a live crowd.
It will truly be a trip from the past to the present as he will touch all music from his career stretching from albums to mixtapes to B-sides.
In a statement on his MySpace page, Fiasco gave more detail as to what is to come with
“We'll be taking it back…WAY back…just to remind you where we came from…only to take you into the future and what is to come.”
From the beginnings of hitting the mainstream with “Kick,Push” in 2006 and blowing minds with “Dumb It Down”, to being deemed one of the most lyrical forces in Hip-Hop, the climb for Lupe has been quite a road to travel. This is a road that he will open up and share. Enjoy.
